Sorry .... that's a 'No'.
Your job to ensure you have the correct Code number ........ or resolve it with HMRC if incorrect. So long as the companies are operating the Code numbers provided ..... how could they be at fault? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
On my old wage slip I have BR, so was paying basic rate with no allowance then recently I noticed it had been changed. I will have to look into it, I have normal 607L rate on other job0

The above (BR + something akin to 647L) is about right if you've two jobs and earning much above the allowance of £6475 (combined)
What has the BR gone to .... and do you know what created the change? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
gone to same as other job, 607L, no idea why it changed, I decreased my hours some time ago but still doing the same job as a 2nd job0
-
Not sure why you have 607L ..... when the more normal is 647L? Could be a small underpayment (£80 ... requires £400 deducted from your Code x 20% = £80) from a previous year. Your Coding Notice (P2) should show why.
But both at 607L is definitely wrong .. and you need to contact HMRC. Did you get a refund when one changed from BR? Are you certain one of the 607 Codes doesn't have a '1' after it ..... signifying non-cumulative?If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
had a look one at 0603L, one at 603L. Will have to invesitigate further with hmrc, thanks for your input though0

when will this new computer system start functioning? fed up with tax code changes every few months as have 2 jobs and have told my mates at HMRC what my combined income will be, have even told them how much tax I will owe them lol. Does it start with year 08/09 or earlier as can't stand thought of having to look at previous closed all sorted years aaargh0

IF the system works as it is supposed to,and all the signs point to it not doing so far, then the first auto reconciliation should be in July/August 2010. Anyone requiring their refund before this point would have to write in with P60 details, or contact HMRC to see if the P60 dets are held.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

ok, if we 'are supposed' to be tax experts and know exactly what our tax codes should be and all of the rules out there for how much tax we are supposed to pay, how come that when you start a job NOBODY tells you of this obligation and your employer does not provide you with a couple of hours training on how to check your PAYE code and spot mistakes?
because this is not done I would argue that we are the responsible ones in checking our tax code is right, after all when we are born they don't hand us a notice with a warning on it saying: when you start your first job make sure you know everything about tax and check your tax code is correct as the people who are paid to pay your tax on your behalf and HMRC don't care if they get it right or wrong!!!0 -
