I don't get Asda's prices

Ok so I was going to do my 3rd online shop with Asda as I found them to be alot cheaper but I am now so confused with their website and prices.

I placed my order on Sunday with them for delivery on Friday and I have just been in to ammend my order only to find that it was more expensive than I previously had been quoted.

Most of the items are rollback but I just assumed that these offers from Asda were permanent. The Daz for £5 in particular is now £8.98 and there are a few other things that were not on offer on Sunday but are now and vice versa.

I am logged in on firefox and Irn Bru coming up at £1.47 a bottle where as on internet explorer (not logged in) as £1 per bottle.

I am very confused! I take it their rollbacks are limited time just as is their offers?

Offers change constantly so if you order on Sunday then chances are they may have changed by Friday.

As for the firefox/ IE onw of them my be using a cached version of the site, plus I wouldn't use IE at moment for secure stuff due to the problems they are experiencing. Both the French and German governments have recommended to their citizens not to use IE at moment due to security problems.

Yes, if the roll backs were permanent they would be paying you to take the stuff by now.

They "roll back" the price, make a big song and dance about it, then a couple of weeks later when you are not looking they put the price up again.

Yes I have been annoyed when this happend to me on 2 for 1 offers they put the date when it ends, but on rollbacks there is no date on so if the price goes up before your delivery you pay the full price. I do not order anything on rollback any more because you do not know how much you are paying unil your delivery.

I argued the toss with Asda because the price was different from my email confirmation to the delivery and they did refund the difference.

Also they have to give you at least 2 days sell by date on items so if you have anything that is less than that, call them and they will refund the whole price for you.

  • Just a suggestion, you say the prices differ between the asda.co.uk site on IE and the asda site you are logged into. This might be because of different prices in your local store.
I know that I get a different subset of products depending on which postcode I use, as we have 2 local stores who serve different areas and they stock some different products. It's also possible offers are different in different stores.

    It's only a game

  • Thanks for all your replies. Fed up with Asda online shopping - prices kept changing as did offers - 3 times since last Sunday I had to change the order - today I cancelled.
I don't live near an Asda to go in and pick up their 'bargains' so will stick to Sainsbury's. I guess the bargains will weigh themselves out by the time I redeem the nectar points.
It would seem Asda can be more expensive on some of their items than sainsbury's are.
Countrylife butter, Yazoo even hula hoops to name a few - something you wouldn't notice when doing all or the majority of your shopping there.
I've never really looked at the small print of things like that when it comes to shopping until recently and will be doing it even more so since the VAT change.
I cannot believe how expensive things have become since the rise - I even think the supermarkets have raised the price BEFORE VAT also.

I'm never convinced that shopping at Asda is a good bargain. Certainly whenever I seem to shop there (and it's not often!) I seem to spend more but come out with less if you see what I mean.

Would rather look at the flyers that come through the door and pick my bargains and menu plan from a couple of shops like Iceland and Somerfields for example.

I generally shop once a fortnight and enjoy the variety that different stores offer. I have never shopped online cos life isnt worth living if you cant pick up something that you fancy just because you saw it. (Impulse buying isnt always evil:rotfl:)

Also because I'm not a chocolate person everyone in my house suffers cos I just dont buy it!!

asda get my back up too, i see all the adverts and all this "we had x amount of items cheaper than tesco" so i go in and the only items that seem to be cheap are frozen ready meals that i never buy. and the things i have tried like their own brand pesto was vile!!! yuck!!

i'm better to sticking with lidl at least their products cost similar to asda but taste so much nicer.
