Secondhand IPhone?

I'm thinking of getting an IPhone but I hear rumours there may be a new one out in the summer. I don't want to shell out £449 for a new PAYG phone or tie myself into a new 18 month contract so I'm thinking about trying to get a 'nearly new' Iphone. If I go for the simplicity tariff with my existing O2 sim then if a new IPhone comes out in the summer I can easily get a new contract and still keep my number.

Is there anywhere around Belfast where I could pick up a secondhand IPhone with a guarantee? I'm dubious about getting one off EBay as I won't have as much comeback if anything goes wrong with it.

Does the Apple Store sell IPhones secondhand?

    CEX ;)

I'm sure they have a store in Belfast, have one here in stroke city, prices not overly reduced for being secondhand however.

Check on the grabbit board or HDUK, Tesco where doing a good offer for the PAYG iphone today with extra points, the tesco iphone will take an O2 sim without hacking;)

New iphone will be out in summer I'm sure, they seem to upgrade every year:o
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

Theres is a shop in Newtownards called Coles - he sells batteries and different bits and pieces- he had a 16 gb iphone for sale before christmas not sure if he still has it though. Sorry couldnt find his telephone no, but i think its Regent or Francis street beside the traffic lights.

Apple doesn't sell refurbished iPhones as they use them for swap outs at the Genius Bar. O2 retentions are giving out refurbs with new contracts, so you could possibly ask if they do them on PAYG?

Afaik iphones can be bought in italy reasonably cheap and they aren't locked into any network, not useful to us here granted unless you know someone going on holiday there :)

Why on earth would you pay £449 for an iPhone on PAYG when, even with a contract and free phone, the £449 will likely even itself out over the lifetime of the contract. Whereas, after paying £449 for a phone and £x in credit/top ups, it'll cost you a heck of a lot more in the long run.

I wouldn't hold off on a contract phone because of rumour and speculation that a newer model will be released in the summer. There's no guarantee there will be and new models are always released. That's life. Chances are it won't be hugely different to the existing version and you'll probably still get a fair whack of cash for it if you decided to flog it on Ebay.
