Hi,
I'm a NRP on CSA1 for 1 child. My wife is expecting this year and I'm trying to work out our finances. I will continue to work, no change, but my wife will be on maternaty leave and then go back to work once her allowed leave is up.
Will my current CSA payments be reduced? I've heard that the CSA will class any benefits we receive as income. Is this true? Current the CSA don't take my wifes income into account and don't know anything about her income. I've also heard that any benefits should be paid directly to the wife rather than the NRP so the CSA can't get their hands on it. Again, true?

She doesn't need to supply her details to them (if they know you are married) also they will reduce your payments when the baby is born (once you notify them) As you won't supply her details you will have a catogary b interim maintenance assesment but you will have protected income allowance as you have a child in your home within the assesmnent0 -
You cannot make statements like they will reduce your payments without knowing the full details. When was your last assessment carried out? If you say you have a child in the house, then you will need to tell them that you have a partner, and if you don't give her details then you will get an IMA B which gives you no protected income. If you want to PM me with details of your current assessment and your details, I will be able to work out whether your assessment will rise, fall or stay the same.0

Kelloggs you are the expert .I had protected income when i notified them mines was born even though IMA cat b that is what i'm stating .Does the op need to go through a full assesment to notify the CSA he has a new child in the house .I didn't0 -
If you think it's likely that your payments will reduce then keep the CSA informed every step of the way.
Let them know immediately your wife goes on Maternity Leave as her income will reduce. - Telephone and send a follow up letter to confirm - recorded delivery of course.
Let them know the expected birth date too so they have it on record.
As soon as the baby is born as well as sharing the news with family and friends TELL THE CSA immediately! They will not backdate anything - even with the proof of a birth certificate - so any changes will be from the moment you inform them that the baby has been born.
Again telephone first then send a follow up letter - recorded delivery again.0 -
