P&O or Stena and Tesco Clubcard deals

This is a bit of a mixed thread, as there are two things I would like to ask people about, but I didn't want to start two threads at once.
1) On the dates we want to travel, the prices are much the same, so I was just wondering if there is much difference between Stena and P&O in terms of the actual ferries (not the HSS, there is no crossing at the time of day that I am looking at). Just wondering about general cleanliness/comfort really, not bothered about entertainment or shopping.
2) I have loads of Tesco clubcard vouchers that I want to exchange. But some are in my name and some in my husbands name. If I exchange them all for, e.g. Stena vouchers, would I suddenly find that I can only use the ones that are in my name (or his name, depending on which one of us books) when we go to book the tickets? Don't want to waste any!

Pretty sure all the vouchers have to be in the same name to use as a deal - but why don't you book a one way journey in your name using your vouchers then book a separate one way journey (to bring you home again!) using hubby's vouchers? Worth a try and don't think it would breach any of their rules - also you don't normally make much of a saving booking a return as oppose to two singles so shouldn't be any dearer.;)Life's a box of beads - rainbow coloured and full of surprises!:D0

There will be no problem using vouchers with 2 names, as long as both people are travelling.
As far as comparing the ferries,I didnt see much difference between them.0 -
exchange all the vouchers through the one account, there will be no problem0

Were heading over next Monday on the P&O slow ferry worked out £60 cheaper for car and 4 Adults, 1 Child. I used Tesco points no prob only in my name but as others have said convert them through your account and they will all have your name on them.
Also you dont get the cheep price when using tesco points. From what I can remember with stena Line it was the mid price (there was a Low, Med, High Level) with P&O it was the High Price (Low, High level)
I was over a few months ago for a football match and got bumped to the Stena slow ferry and I have to say I was impressed with it compared to what it was like 10 years ago. Same decor etc as the HSS just smaller.
From the pics on the site the P&O looks just as good
Also the vouchers can be used for either or them, I had originally ordered them for stena but used them with P&O0 -

Curious to hear a bit more about the pricing....I assumed (probably wrongly) that the crossing was charged at the brochure price at the time of the crossing being booked....if I read what you say correctly...you're saying they have one price for booking and paying yourself and a possible higher price because you use clubcard deals....I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
offer...might be better to pay cash and use points for something else...this is assuming you are doing the uk to france route of course. This is a bit of a mixed thread, as there are two things I would like to ask people about, but I didn't want to start two threads at once.

this is from the paper work that comes with the vouchers
"For Stena Line bookings please book at least 28 days in advance of travel. Tokens are only valid on stena line flexi fare tickets. All stena line bookings are subject to a £10 booking fee that can be paid for with tokens."
"For P&O Irish Sea bookings, tokens are only valid on P&P Irish Sea Flexi fare tickets."0 -
We have just booked P&O using clubcard. Price you will pay is the flexible price quoted on P&O website. No problems. I highly recommend P&O over Stena. less busy and the slow boat crossing time is still shorter than HSS!!.
If clubcard have same surname they can be combined. Cheers0 -
just booked stenaline yesterday and it was only £10 dearer with clubcards then i would have got had i booked the same deal on the internet. used stena line last year with tesco clubcard and no problems again was only £10 dearer0
