Is there anyway I can make my HM bread less fattening ??

I've always thought WW & simlar 'diet bread' is a bit of a con to be honest. Anything is lower calorie if it's a piddley little slice of air which means you're starving hungry by 10a.m. We make our own wholemeal but go for the medium of the 3 size settings to get slightly smaller slices. We use a plastic slicing guide thingy from Lakeland to get reasonably thin slices & find that one slice of toast will fill us up rather than 2 slices of bought sliced bread. Also, with the oil content, we only use about a tblspn of oil per loaf and divided up between the slices, that's going to be almost negligible fat content, so I think bread is probably painted as more of a baddy than it actually is, really.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Made me laugh reading about WW bread.
Many years ago when my dear Nan was still alive, we caught her piling about 12 slices of Slimcea bread on her plate. My Dad said "what are you doing eating all that bread - I thought you were supposed to be on a diet!". "Oh yes, its OK though" Nan said "its diet bread!" "Not if you eat a dozen slices of it, it isn't Mum!":rotfl:Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

That made me think of my old Gran who years ago in the 1970s used to buy those Limmits slimming biscuits. Remember them? Only Gran didn't realise that they were actually for meal replacement, so she was eating her normal meals.....and somewhat optimistically following them by a plate of 'slimming' biscuits. Needless to say she didn't lose any weight!!2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

i know about the cal contents of the breads but if you are a breadaholic like myself i will happily eat 4 slices ww bread but also 4 slices of hm bread-at different times
so for me i can have 8 checks on scottish slimmers for 4 slices ww bread but i wouldnt even consider hm bread at the moment so for me its the amount of slices if im honest .
on a good day i get 10 slices from my hm bread but its usually 9 so i would be eating half a loaf mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
oh and i usually try and get the ww bread when its reduced to about 10-20p at our local asda

This thread is taking me back a bit! Slimcea bread and Limmits biscuits, I remember those. Reminds me of the time I bought some toffee sweets from Boots called Aids. The idea was that you chewed one of these toffees slowly before a meal and then you ate less. I loved them so much I devoured the whole box and didn't bother with a meal!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
