Thanks gwinnie, your link in #13 is to a better career profile thingy than the one I found so I have put it in my first post
http://www.skillsandinterests.com/
If like me you still dont know what you want to be when you grow up:o then try this little questionnaire. Its only 32 questions and very usefull. It gives a list of suitable careers based on your answers so be honest.
http://quiz.ivillage.co.uk/uk_work/tests/career.htm
Results of mine show I dont work well with others(I knew that,I dont have the tact gene and am always right even when wrong so that doesnt go down well) and need a career where I can stimulate my senses and mind without having to work with lots of people.
I have been self employed for a couple of years now so kinda knew that I dont play well with others but the alternative career suggestions were very appealling to me,Novelist,Paralegal,Geologist,Graphic Designer,Online content developer,Webmaster,Meteorologist and Artist.
Vet was on my list too but I cannot stand the sight of blood so thats the only one I felt didnt suit me.
Try it,it may inspire a change of direction or help satisfy you that what you are doing currently as a job is right for you afterall.

Just done it - I got the same list of careers as you did.
Not sure about the careers - maybe novelist or nutritionist out of that. I'm not at all artistic. Historian might have some possibilities.....
Hmmm....wondering what the career options given for other people are.
I liked/agreed the character description they gave - but not so sure about those options.0 -
I got:
Novelist
Photographer
Vet
Medical Technician
Paralegal
Geologist
Marine Biologist
Graphic Designer
Online Content Developer
Webmaster
Computer Security
Producer
Computer Programmer
Technical Writer
Systems Analyst
Meteorologist
Artist
All of which are of no interest to me! Just because I said I prefer to work alone, think they gave me a list of many jobs tended to be done by 'loners'. It doesn't mean I don't like working with others, just that I prefer to carry out taks by myself (I know they will be done correctly that way!).0 -
I got:
Artist
Historian
Banker
Novelist
University Professor
Photographer
Vet
Paralegal
Graphic Designer
Online Content Developer
Webmaster
Producer
Managing Director
Nutritionist
Advertising
Nursing
and really don't like the sound of any of them, maybe photographer at a push. But I agreed with the character descriptions. The best thing like that I ever got was when I did a similar test for my last permanent job, you had to pick the words you were most/least like etc. I thought it was all balls, but the evaluation (which I got to keep) was spot on.Do good deeds and you could raise the curtain, do good deeds and you could really raise your life....0 -
I got exactly the same results too.0

That thing just doesn't work. I say "I like to work with others" it says "you prefer to work alone" I say "I prefer to work on several projects" it says "you prefer to be deeply involved in one or two projects"...waste of time.0

I am an artistand as for advertising, I guess the things that I do in my part time sales job kinda work round that too!

Does this mean the questionnaire is rubbish or does it mean that we are all of the same type of personality,i,e. the type who do career questionairres first thing in the morning.
Hopefully as the day goes on we will get some different results.
I did think the personality analysis at the end was accurate for me although by the look of the results so far the career options it gives are pretty restricted. My results were exactly the same as Honeypops,
Novelist
Photographer
Vet
Medical Technician
Paralegal
Geologist
Marine Biologist
Graphic Designer
Online Content Developer
Webmaster
Computer Security
Producer
Computer Programmer
Technical Writer
Systems Analyst
Meteorologist
Artist
Maybe if I had completed it later in the day,say after my 2 essential morning mugs of strong coffee,I would have been feeling more sociable and got different results."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -

Same list as me.
The character description was spot on for me too0 -

Very similar list to everyone else but, as others have said, it is actually relevant to me. I've worked as a web developer / programmer for 10 years and am also a keen artist and photographer0 -
Me too, I got:
- Novelist
- Photographer
- Vet
- Medical Technician
- Paralegal
- Geologist
- Marine Biologist
- Graphic Designer
- Online Content Developer
- Webmaster
- Computer Security
- Producer
- Computer Programmer
- Technical Writer
- Systems Analyst
- Meteorologist
- Artist
I did find most of the questions hard to answer though, they were too open. "Do you prefer to work alone or with others" would depend on the job you're doing. Shovelling cow dung would definitely be best done with others, while ensuring figures were correct and analysing them is best done alone.
I have done about half the jobs above, rest I wouldn't want to do. .... and currently I am earning my income from doing one of the above.0
