Welll I dont blame them: its not like they've had a lot of publicity recently, what with being mentioned in the news every other week for the lst 2 years0

Perhaps they should hoard all the cash until eventually nobody has heard of them and they go bump meaning the government get no money?
Oooorrrrrrrr
They can continue to operate as much as possible like any other government supported bank and advertise to continue building their revenue so there is still a business to sell if / when the time comes..
But wait, that headline isnt as good is it...0 -

The NR is actually owned by the taxpayers of this country - is it appropriate that they give £10M of taxpayers' money to a football club??"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

They are paying for the advertising and promotional opportunities that the sponsorship gives them.
If they buy advertising space in the newspapers would there be headlines complaining about Northern Rock giving money to the Daily Mail?loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -

Perhaps they should have used the £10M to repay some of the money they owe the taxpayers?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
I'd rather they gave it to Newcastle United than handed it out in big bonuses to bankers! But as I'm an NUFC fan I'm probably a bit biased!:rotfl:0

Or maybe they should run the business properly, including investing in advertising/promotion, so that they can repay all the money.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
I think NR are making a good move, eyes are on NUFC at the mo and they are a massive part of Newcastles culture. Remember NUFC are a one town club and really are part of the community. It may appear a waste of money and I would normally agree is it were not Newcastle."Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies." Thomas Jefferson
