Australiadirect.com angry help!

Options
Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I'm angry and need help so needed to post.

I made an order with australiadirect.com for 2 pairs of ugg boots. The sizes and colours I wanted were showing in stock and so I placed the order.

Next day I have an email saying they are out of stock and offering me two different pairs of boots which I kindly declined as they were wrong style and colour.

Received a further email stating sorry they couldn't help and the my card would be refunded in a few days.

First of all why did they charge my card when the boots were out of stock?? I think this is wrong and bad customer service.

Here's the best part, received my refund -£7.23 due to exchange rate, the company seem to think this isn't their problem and aren't going to refund!!!

So I've paid £7.23 for them to take money out of my account and had to wait days to get it back and don't even have the boots!!!

I am so mad!! I can understand exchange rate isn't their problem but I did not cancel my order or change my mind, money should not have been taken till the order was ready.

Sent more emails, waiting for reply, any advice?

I'd wait to see what the company has to say- there is no reason why you should lose out for their error.

The problem with online stores and out of stock items seems to be wth their own systems, some are simply better then others, it could be the system only corrects the stock on the web page every day rather then every minute and this could be why, or it could simply be a manual error. Ive had it happen to me from more companies then I can count- everyone from Topshop to SweatyBetty, She Active, Ellie Grey....the list goes on and I'm sure it will continue to grow.

The easiest way is to get the money back from the company via the company, the more complicated way would be to bring the CAB into it and see if them writing can make a difference or if there are any laws that protect you over this.

I hope you get it sorted!
  • Had no reply from my last email, any ideas? I don't see why I should pay for their mistake

Do you have their actual address? can you get to the CAB? or local law center? I'd keep hounding them with emails in the mean time, it does seem unfair.
