just a bit of simple advice

Hi so i just want to ask a couple of questions if i may.

Last sept i received 2 letters from 2 diff dca's.
First one was lowell saying i owed £487 to natwest. So i did have an account with them but closed it about 4 yrs ago with nothing in the account or owing on it. I sent a letter bascically saying no i dont and send me evidence. Every month i got a letter to say they still had not got anything from natwest, then last week got letter saying.. Natwest have not been able to provide what i requested and so they are prepared to take a commercial view and as a gesture of goodwill write off the outstanding balance. However should statements become available they reserve the right to contact me with a view to recover the amount.

 so besides the fact i dont owe it anyway how can they write it off but reserve the right to change their minds?

Second lettter also sept last yr, was from Uk search ltd saying i owed £45 to southern water from an address i lived at. Now i last lived there 4 1/2 yrs ago. Told them i was moving and payed what i owed moved then moved again after 1 yr to where i have been for last 3 1/2 yrs. All these places have been southern water properties so surely if i did owe it they would have contacted before now? Anyway sent letter asking for the dates to which the debt related. To date no reply so what do i do now? as i would like to get it sorted out and anything they put on my file corrected. I presume write again but what would i say?
On a side note got my final payment on mbna card debt end of the month hooray will owe no one anything then.
thanks for any replies

    Hi

Regarding the first one, I'd leave it for now, but check your credit report to make sure lowell haven't filed a default or anything.

Second one - is anything on your credit report? if not ignore it, if it is you may need to chase them up to get it removed.

Congrats on your soon to be last card payment.

  • Thanks for the reply and yes i will have to check my credit report.

Out of curiosity though....The lowell letter had the balance outstanding as £0.00 so if its nothing how could they put a default surely anything on the file should show as £0 as well?

I was thinking they may have put a default on when they first sent the £487 letter in September (not that they necessarily should have done but lowell don't always care what they should do)
