Definitely. Tanith, your daughter might be able to get some help with buyng an A/C if it's causing the baby that much distress. Too much heat can bring on febrile convulsions, and that's not good for the baby.0

Trust me on this one! Untill you try it yourself you won't believe how good they are. Worth double the price if you ask me

bloody hell a bit expensive!!!!
All I do is get a freezer block like one you use for picnics wrap it in a tea towle and just use it like a hot water bottle. Last night I was so hot I got it and just layed it on my chest. It was lovelly. Also it will only cost you a few quid.We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars........................0 -
We bought a ceiling fan / light last year - It makes a big difference as the air is constantly being moved around. Ialso find it a lot quieter than a desk fan. I think you can pick them up from around £10 - £15.
At times I also take a spray bottle to bed and give myself a little dousing from time to time !! Works a treat.0 -

I ordered 2 and am looking at ordering another 2 for abroad (they get a bit to heavy to carry in your suitcase when filled).
The last 2 nights where its been especially hot, I've slept like a dream. Worth every penny.

I'm confused now! Do you fill them with water?0 -
You activate them (once) with water. They then stay cold all the time, no need to put them in fridge or anything.
So each time you move your head (or other body bits!) on it, you hit a cold spot.............................I'm off to bed to cool down.........................

By the way, I'm not selling these, just think they are great!
I know a couple of others on the original post also bought them. Maybe they could give a bit of a feedback??

Brought a couple. Have only activated one so far for my son who sweats like a looney at night. He seems to like it. Still sweats but hasn't woken up in the night so far. I tried it briefly and it does feel cool.
Pleased so far. I think I will try the other one myself tonight.0 -
how do they stay cold all the time? them must have a life. But I still thin they are far too expensive, a cool block works perfectly.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090

I seem to remember that in the pacific or Indian Islands the beach houses are designed so that a draft is created giving a kind of free A/C. Anyone know how it works?kittiwoz wrote:Open the loft hatch to give the heat somewhere to rise to and leave your bedroom door ajar.0 -
Have found this thread after searching for the best prices on ceiling fans.
I notice that the ones in Argos have different lengths of fan blades, do you think this affects the amount of cooling they gove off very much?
We are being rewired all over and so can have new lights/sockets/switches etc put wherever we want. As we currently have a pedestal fan stood in every room which takes floor space up we are thinking of getting ceiling fans for all the bedrooms and the front room. Do you think this would be a good idea?
Having them in the bedrooms before has not been an option due to out light fittings being towards the edge of the ceiling where there is a slope but they will put all the fittings central in the room for us. We used to have a ceiling fan a few years ago in our front room (until i decided to change it for a candle looking fitting) which was fixed sturdily to our ceiling and was solid and didnt move. I have recently seen someone elses fan which they havent long had fitted and theirs is on a kind of pivot ball thing so there can be slight movement when the fan is on!! What is the purpose of this and are they all like this now?0
