Don't forget to collect all the mini shampoo / shower gels etc when you stay in hotels. My bathroom cabinet was groaning with them last year, so I decided to use them up - I had 3 months worth!

I use big brand tampons and towels I'm afraid... but I buy them when on offer and I find if I use other brands than my normal ones my skin gets really sore and unfortable so I'll live with paying what it costs :) I used to be on the Depo injection and first time round I gained 2 and a bit stone in weight, came off it and back on over a year later and this time I gained over 2 1/2 stones... After coming off it I then had 2 periods every month for about 4 months until we found a pill (yasmin) that was able to control it. I spent those 4 months in pain and constantly knackered so my advice? Don't go on it and if you're on it get off it as soon as you can! It was great whilst on it, but once I came off it was HELL!

Legs I tend to shave but should really epilate as I have one :) I tend to use OHs razor after he's finished with it and I use some hair conditioner instead of foam and find I have super soft legs :)

Obviously everyone is different as I've never had problems with own brand stuff. I was on the Depo injection for quite a few years & come off half way through 2005 - and have had no problems, I probably put on weight, but I dont think the pill can be blamed for this solely (it annoys me when people dont want to take the pill because of the weight gain    - but again personal choice). I have to say I loved having no periods when I was on the injection, but I wanted to give my body a break.

Apparently conditioner when shaving is meant to be fab.!!
  • Have been thinking about this thread - find it hard to come up with anything new!! What about having a nail varnish sharing (or swopping) party with friends - have got my nails painted red at the mo (very unusual for me!) and feel like a different person!!:rotfl:

  • Just wanted to add regarding the pill messages... I was on depo and hated it, gained so much weight. Then I had an implant put in, was fine for 6 months, then I started a period which went on and on and on, after nearly 8 weeks and becoming very anaemic they took my implant out and I am now on a pill called Cerazette and i have no problems, my weight has stabalized even though I admit I am 20lb overweight and I do not have periods at all now.

Can't think of any other money saving ideas for ladies things - I love all my smellies and "treats", I tend to shop around for BOGOF offers and the one item of make up I don't scrimp on is mascara - usually spend about £9 on this. I can spend ages in Boots getting the little advantage card vouchers and getting the most for my money. I also have some fancy glass jars which I decant cheaper bubble bath etc into so they look posh on my bathroom shelf even if they aren't! I love a 99p hair/face mask if I need a pick me up but payday is far off.

I am nearly at the end of my body shop scrub - which I think is pricey at £10 a tub so I will be trying a cheaper alternative from superdrug next time.

Ooh another - if you wear make up - mix your foundation with your moisturiser before applying, you will get nice light coverage and your foundation will go further.

If I think of any more I will be back!

:D  ;) I make my own body scrub, using sea salt, essential oils and some oil (grapeseed or almond). Pack it into a pretty jar and leave in the bathroom for a nice skin treat. Mine smells similar to the sanctury stuff, but at a fraction of the cost! Buy oils for massage and base oils from a chemist. Fraction of the price than fancy branded ones!

Sample posh makeup in store, then buy on ebay if you really want it. Gives you time to think about your purchase ( probably don't need it anyway) and if you do buy it you can get it much cheaper.

I buy my benefit stuff this way and my YSL touche eclat.:p :p Girl has to look good.
  • You just reminded me - I found the touche eclat too dry looking on me but the No7 equivalent is fab - can recommend that one, and more often than not there are offers on with No7 products. Actually they have a really nice "summer collection" eye colours palette, I have a voucher for 200 extra points on this AND I think its 3 for 2 on No7 at the moment. I feel a trip to Boots coming on next week!

Haircuts from Toni & Guy Academy at £5 a time (see the Students board for a thread on this) ... As for clothes, I've recently splashed out quite a bit but got loads for my money by shopping at factory outlet stores ... Have been told you can get some lovely bath/toiletry goodies discounted at TK Maxx ... Otherwise I just look out for my favourite brands and stock up when they're on BOGOF ... (I'm fairly low maintenance BTW ;))

The Tresemme shampoos and conditioners are really nice (approx £3.50 each) and sometimes on BOGOF at various shops. I buy the 900ml bottles and they last months.

The Intuition razors (the one's with the blocks of shaving soap on them) are really great and also sometimes heavily reduced. I buy these when they are on offer and each blade lasts me about a month (when shaving legs each day). I find this cheaper and nicer than using 'Bic type' disposable razors, which you have to throw away after one or two uses, and it doesn't slash my legs to pieces either.

I asked my sister for a mooncup for my birthday.

Before this kept us both in sanatary towels for about 18 months for free mainly by using vouchers from boots Advantage card machine.

I wax my own legs, Nair hot wax.
