They have millions of people on interest only mortgages, something is not right here.
Move the whole mortgage to IO.

We're the same-just had a baby, I want just a few months off before returning to work. SMP reduces my wages by 2/3rds.
HSBC wont let us switch to interest only, even for 6 months as we have only 85% equity. Redemption fee is massive to come out of fixed rate we're on and no other lender will touch us as i'm showing as not earning as i'm on maternity leave.
We're going to sell up-use the 15% to pay off our debts and have some savings and rent somewhere for less than our mortgage.
I no longer believe having a house is the be all and end all-your situation has shown that too.
Sorry I cant help. just wanted to show we were in the same position too:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -
Ask for the mortgage compliance officer to review thier stance in relation to the 6 core principles of TCF 0treating customers fairly). Follow up in writing to this person, special delivery post.
Use brief bullet points.
Make sure you set a 7 day resolution deadline indicating you will take it to the FOS (financial ombudsman service) if no satisfactory outcome is achieved.0 -
