if I was to take a small job as a lunchtime welfare assistant, paying approx £49 per week for 7.5 hrs, would i have to pay tax & ni on this amount? sorry if this seems a basic question but its been a long time since ive worked. also, will it effect my tax credits?

Obviously assuming this was your only income.....
Interest on savings, for example, would affect this. If you have some savings and no other income you are presumable reclaiming the tax that would otherwise be deducted from the interest.
NIC is not affected by unearned income.0
