Travelling from City Airport - Increased security?

Options
Anyone been through the City since that muppet tried to set fire to himself? I'm flying out on Wednesday and wondering if there is any delay because of increased security at the airport.

  • IMO it's actually improved since they changed it all round at City airport. I flew from there on Dec 23rd so usually a pretty busy day for airports and it was definitely a quicker process than it was before they did the renovations

Been a few times recently myself, but not since Xmas. Just wondering if I need to show up a bit earlier with the increasingly personal security checks.
  • Flew through the city airport at the weekend, no extra security. Coming back from Manchester was slower.

Great....I'm going to Manchester in a few weeks. I look forward to yet another 2 hour delay in T3.

I'll thank you for the info, but it doesn't make me happy :D

Flew out this morning. No different than normal apart from the new layout. Everybodys documents were examined on the mainland though with 6 burly immigration officers giving everyone a thorough examination.

Some people would enjoy that! ;)

There's a thing on the City Airport's website about the time taken to go through security being reduced because of the renovations and revised security that they've implemented.

I flew out of there on Friday and it was fine. Didn't have much of a wait at security and the new layout is great.

Was more concerned flying back yesterday from East Midlands when two armed police officers stood watch over our line! In addition to the unarmed officer than was there before. Strange, no other flights had this *shrugs*

I flew out of Belfast City on 4 January and it was my first experience of the new work that had been carried out. I thought it was fantastic! There were no queues at the security channels and I moved through fairly quickly. The new layout upstairs too is great. Light, airy and a lot less crowded.
  • In and out at the weekend, no problems at all except for the fact that I was behind someone who worked with explosive materials . Even though he showed his credentials etc the security guy insisted on going through his stuff in minute detail and asking him loads of questions, with, by the end, FIVE people earywigging because we were all waiting for our own stuff. I really felt for the guy, especially since it was obvious he would need to be checked by the supervisor.

But apart from this no problems.

Who set fire to themselves anyway? Did I miss something?
