Options
Mmm, drafting my resignation letter, been a long time since I've done one.......
Do you put the whole "thanks for the opportunity......"
Do you put a reason....."offered better opportunity......"

Just realsied that's a lot of opportunity.......:rotfl::rotfl:

Doesn't have to be anything more than that you resign, you're giving x amount of notice making your last day y.

If you have any o/s leave take it during your notice period - somehow, IME, the time seems to be worth less when it's converted into money.

You only need to inform that you are leaving you don't need to inform them of the reason.

The thanks part you mentioned is just out of politeness and isn't needed but still worth adding, shows your leaving on a positive note I suppose.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

    How about something like:

    Dear XXXX

As required by my contact of employment, I hereby give you XXXX notice of my intention to leave my position as XXXXXXX.

I have decided its time to move on and i have accepted a position elsewhere. This was not an easy decision and took a lot of consideration. However, I'm confident that my new role will help me move towards my career.

I would like to thank you for having me as part of the team.

    Yours sincerely

If I remember rightly - it was so long ago that I'm beginning to mumble the number of years! - they calculated each leave day as 1/365 because of some twaddle about being paid for weekends although I worked Monday to Friday. Contract states the hours per week but not days.

My sister's an HR manager who blithely waffled on about how right it was and how some organisations get this wrong. Wanted to bite her!

The last job I left (Tesco) I simply wrote "You can shove this job up your a$$, but I'll work my notice period if you wish."

Not the most professional move, but I was 18 and hated them with a passion. :)

I agree with stclair. Never "burn your bridges" just in case. Always best to keep it polite with a thank you thrown in.

Given your other thread about this job and the difficulties at your small firm I would just keep the letter to the minimum.
