We quite enjoyed Calais as foot passengers. Had some Moules etc, went into the town centre, saw the church where General De Gaulle got married, we even stayed the night. One of the highlights of our stay was suffering anti-English abuse at the hands of some French boys. Got the same thing in Holland. Bit tough on us as none of us were English.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
You can pick up a bus from the port at Calais which will take you into the town centre. There are shops and restaurants there, places to buy cheese and wine etc. If you want to go to the hypermarket there is a bus that you can pick up from the town centre. Keep your eyes open as there is a bus travel shop right outside one of the bus stops, as I remember near the square in the town centre and you can find out which buses go where. Hope this helps - it really is very easy just to get into Calais town from the port as I did it on my own with my two children in tow. Give it a go! jlh0
