get paid for voice overs

ok i have just found this site....

http://voice123.com/web/common/register_talent.cgi

and here is the home page

http://voice123.com/

it looks as though you register for free

must admit i havent read through it all, so dont know much about it, i seen the site via someone's signature in an email, and i clicked on it to be nosey:rotfl:

i dont know if this is a viable way of making extra money etc..... but if there is no hidden costs, etc and free to register, then there is nothing to lose..

I think if you have a 'stand out' sort of voice then this could be something you could look into

as i say..i havent looked at the site properly....so dont know the ins and outs of it...

I would be careful with this. I homed in on their affiliate scheme and found this
For each voice talent or voice producer that registers and buys a premium subscription you get USD $30 or more per premium talent in the first year registration.

Looks like you have to buy a subscription, or more likely, you will need to buy one if you want to make money.

It could be something like, you can join for free, but don't get to see the job offers unless you buy a subscription. Or you get to see the jobs for free, but need a subscription to see the contact details.

Voice acting sounds like a good idea that some could use, I usually do a Google search to try and find the best informative and unbiased community forums for an industry but it was a little tough with voice-acting. A lot are more for fun and have a lot of non-paid jobs on them. However I did find this one:

    http://www.voice-overs.com/forum/

They have sections for paid job ads and also a section at the bottom for revewing marketplaces (in that section they even have a thread at the top for voice123 reviews/feedback you could look at). It does sound like it isn't free however not a scam either, so up to you if you think you'd see a return.
  • I found this via Google Alert...Sorry guys, if you believe this is a scam, you are making a false assumption.

Voice123.com saves buyers money by NOT asking them to pay to join the site and post voice over work. Buyers still have to pay voice talent when they are hired. Voice talent decide what that is in negotiations with buyers.

The affiliate program is just like any other; paying companies for clicks and conversions by links on a page. Nothing wrong with that.

If you ever wish to know more, and get straight answers from staff...I am Steven, and you can email me at help@voice123.com

    Best regards,
    Steven

Nobody has assumed your site is a scam, I assumed that to get the most outof your site would cost money.

We are not buyer, we are wanting more information about getting paid for our voice talent. And how much we will have to pay you.

As voice talent, can we get jobs through your web site without paying you any money?

Nobody said there was anything wrong with that, what they assumed was, if you are paying affiliates $30 for each voice talent that buys a premium subscription then you must be charging voice talent for subscriptions.

I want more information, but would prefer if it was made public so the rest of the forum readers can see it.

So here goes......I have a voice talent and I want to earn money from it. How much do I have to pay your site to get work from your site.

Yeah the word 'scam' was to stipulate that it wasn't one ;) A lot of sites get posted on this forum for various work opportunities and some ask for upfront payment. Its the purpose of this forum to weed out the scams from the legits to save people money.

Anyway, the reviews mentioning subscription rates are pretty old but sounds like for Premium your gonna be dropping about $295 into it. It sounds like the jobs on there might be high paying though but you'll be competing with people who do this as a main career and browsing this site on the side of their other paying gigs that they get from self-marketing/research etc.

If you've not done voice acting before I would first practice on the multiple non-paid jobs first to build up experience (loads of audition requests on youtube for example). Then move up to looking around for paid gigs on free outlets for more professional experience. Then when you feel confident in your skills try one of these premium sites and again there are many reviews around for each of them that you can find via Google or the above mentioned forum.
