can I make flapjacks out of some museli?

I have a large bag of unopened museli which is going nowhere. I love flap jacks so thought I could make flap jacks but I can only find recipes on the internet which mention oats.

the museli has rasins, nuts and bits of fruit in it.

i dont have any syrup, but do have sugar, low fat butter, honey and some extra rasins

what quantities should I use and how long to cook for?

Yes, you can, and muesli flapjacks are pretty good. You'll need to make sure the bits of fruit are well covered by flapjack, though, as they tend to burn (and burnt sultanas aren't particularly tasty, I can tell you).

Hopefully someone else will come along in a minute with quantities - I've only ever made flapjacks by the "throw stuff in until it looks right" method! :o

Yes it will make lovely flapjacks.
Just google for a fruit & nut flapjack recipe and adapt it. I'm another 'cook by eye' type!

ok, where have i gone wrong, cooked for about half hour at 160ish

left to cool in the dish, but although it tastes nice, its just falling apart, (although the top is quite nice and crispy and stuck together)

was the dish too deep at about a short thumb length?

should it have gone in the oven for longer?

was it because it was museli rather than just oats? the mixture has fruit, nuts, bits of coconut etc, so is quite broken up?

Did you leave it to cool long enough? The problem with most flapjack recipes is that it is best to score the marks where you want to cut it and then leave it overnight otherwise it WILL fall apart. ALso it is useful to make sure it is well tamped down to prevent it ` breaking up`. HTH
