How hard is it to make own cufflinks?

Hello all,

Just wondered if any jewellery expert knows how to go about making own cufflinks? I'm after 5 x matching pairs for my wedding and they're £30 plus on Ebay! I know you can buy the 'cufflink blanks' really cheaply, but how would I go about making my own as I'm worried it would just look stooopid!
Any ideas would be GREAT! :T

Cheers,
Hels

    hello my dear

funny you should mention this...I made some yesterday :)
I have used guitar picks for mine as I know all the guys will think thats cool lol

Id say all in 6 pairs is probably been about £10-£12 ish
but cost will obviously depend on what you use for the decorated part

have you got a them that you could run with?

or if you just want a colour you could get those little glass pebble type things to use?

or for a fun set of cufflinks you could make something out of fimo for them?

give me some ideas of the sort of thing you have in mind and ill have a think about how you could do it lol

they are fairly easy to make you just need to get good jewellery glue to stick the parts together :)

  • Ooooh great! Thanks for the swift reply! Our theme is quite a vintage one....long slinky dress, blousey roses, colours...vintage silver, ivory and palest pink. I've been looking at the 'best man' 'groom' type of cufflinks -a mother of pearly enamel type, but not sure if I really like them! I'd like them all the same type - i.e colour, but everyone is so different
    Son (groomsman) aged 15...PS3 mad
Groom - arty farty and scatty!
Father of groom, old man (87) and lovely likes gin and gardening!
Father of bride, (65) likes wine and travelling
Best man (50) teacher and cricket fanatic.
I'm completely useless at arts and crafts - my HTB is the arty one but dont want to ask him to do it as he's got loads on his plate at the mo.
Just googling 'how to make cufflinks'!!!

    Hels xx

They're incredibly easy to make :) I have a handmade jewellery business that I run in my spare time and these are by far the easiest thing ever!

There are some very cheap suppliers out there and you can easily get stones to put in them cheaply (things like onyx) or as someone suggested Fimo which can be great fun!

oh you could print out an oval with 'groom' or whatever on it, then stick it to the back of one of these, and use it on the cufflink blank :)
