Ground Rice

Options
Hi there

I wondered if someone could help me!

I bought a packet of whitworths ground rice, thinking i could use it to bulk/thicken my babys meals. i have been using baby rice which is £1.50 a pack, and the ground rice was only 55p....

anyway- there are no instructions on the packet- all there is, is a recipie for rice pudding

so does anyone know how to use it? do i have to cook it first? or can i just stir some into some pureed fruit/veg to thicken it

any help would be appriciated

many thanks
TG
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

It would need to be cooked otherwise it would be grainy a bit like grit.

To make ground rice in a saucepan. 2oz ground rice, 1oz sugar and a pint of milk. (serves 4) I use less milk and make it thicker.

You could mix it with the pureed fruit. Personally we like a spoonful of jam but my 2 boys are a bit older.

I used to just add boiled water and stir to the right consisitency for my babies.

It is the same stuff as baby rice,so I just made it the same way.You add breast milk, formula or water.

I definitely didn't cook it.I think I mixed mashed banana or stewed apple/carrots etc in too.

Btw those dinky baby pasta shapes can be bought cheaper if you get soup pasta.I think you can get bags of tiny stars in the pasta section of most supermarkets.

Babies do not need special food they just need to have it prepared in an appropriate way according to their age.Don't let baby food companies make you feel that you don't know how to feed your baby.:)
