Cursor jumping around

I use a mouse with my laptop but the cursor is never steady whether my hands are on the keyboard or not. I can't keep looking at the screen but if I want the words to be in the right place I would have to. I have put up with this for a while but at the moment the worse thing is that the cursor is NEVER still. It shakes about all the time and I have got to find an answer. Can anyone advise me?

Have you disabled the built-in touchpad? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Thank you for responding Espresso. No, I have not disabled it. There is something else that may be connected. Yesterday when I was using MSE I went to it via IE and all the response words were in the right place i.e. Thanks, etc etc. Today I am here via Firefox and the appearance of MSE is different. there is no Thanks or Reply - nothing! I am typing this in "Quick Reply". I have done a scan using AVAST and nothing nasty was revealed. Also, tonight, the cursor is steady but the site looks different. Is there any more info I can give you?0

Are you saying the cursor problem only occurs when using a specific browser - just for clarification ...0

Yes, I am on MSE via IE right now and the cursor is wobbling like crazy. I tested it after my last post and when I switched to Firefox the cursor was still but there were no response words and the balloon saying FORUMS at the top of the page on the right was missing. The typeface was pale and smaller. Some people wouldthink this is a very minor problem but it is very annoying really.
I like to use Firefox as they say it is far safer than IE. Do you think that is true?0 -

Yes, very much so, especially with the excellent NoScript add-on. I would not touch IE, even with a five hundred foot barge-pole :rotfl:
