Hi all,
I have had my final LBM this month and worked out i am 36k in debt.
I have had to majorly budget this month and only have 20.00 for food till 26th Feb.
Not too bad as i have lots of food in the freezer and i have plenty of dog and cat food. Plently of cereals.
I guess what i am really asking is whats the best things to buy to get my money's worth. I need about 3 pounds a week for guinea pig veg so that leaves 8 pounds for the month for food staples.
Any advice/help is much appreciateed

The best place to start is usually a rough list of what you do have in the freezer and cupboards.
The best things to buy usually depend on what else you have already.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

boiled mashed roasted chips jackets etc etc

Hi
Do you have any friends neighbours you can ask for veg trimmings, leaves peelings etc for the guinea pigs. I used to save all mine for my friend's rabbit x0 -
Is the piggie's veg price for full price or whoopsies? Would they mind if you cut back a little bit on it this month or is it their only food source?
I used to be able to get carrot tops free from the market for mine as a treat.0 -
The piggies don't need vegetables as such, (especially not £3 worth!). As others have said, they will be quite happy with the stalks off your broccoli, potato peelings, and tops & tails of carrots etc. Ask your neighbours, pals and colleagues at work.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

Amazing, I'm sure mine ate them without coming to any harm.
But I apologise for suggesting potato peelings.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
Another thing for the Guinea is if you go the market they often have boxes of leaves they have pulled off cabbages etc - they'll give you them for free. Our guineas loved sprout outers and would squeak like made if they heard us come out with a carrier bag.
As for the rest of the question, it really depends what you have in as to what you need to buy. I suggest you make up a menu for the month or post your cupboard list etc. What do you have in?0 -
Yes, get veg that you can share with the guinea pig. ie he can have the outer bits and you get the inner ones! And if you're buying your veg at the greengrocer ask if they have any trimmings too that you can have free. Or do you know anyone with an allotment? I was at my allotment today and goodness knows what I threw in the composting bin would have fed a small army of guinea pigs. (Split carrots, cabbage trimmings, woody turnips and blown winter lettuce, to name but a few.)Val.0
