John Lewis Mattresses - Any good

I'm after a decent, single, non-allergenic, not-memory-foam mattress.

Currently we have a Silentnight cheapy one and it's awful. Not that old and the springs have started giving way.

We were looking at M&S or John Lewis pocket sprung.
A quick google reveals some bad reviews for the M&S ones but I can't see any reviews anywhere for JL.

Anyone got a JL mattress and can comment?

Both JL and M&S are very over priced. If you want good value for money as well as high quality then stay away from the big stores, and the big brands. Instead shop on line from a seller who gives a proper satisfaction guarantee, so that it is in their interest to make sure you make the right choice the first time.

The problem with your old mattress is quite common with some of the big brands.

You could always get caught in the snow at John Lewis in High Wycombe and have a free night in their bedding department.

I just wanted to add that I've bought a john lewis mattress after trying it in store. It felt excellent, much better than the tempur which I was going to buy. I also went to bensons beds/dreams but didn't fancy any of their mattresses. Bit worried about the 1 year guarantee JL have (less than others) but we'll see what happens. Also, to anyone reading this, you can't blindly buy a mattress without trying it like this guy above suggests. You HAVE to go out and try it, lie on it for 10-15 even 30 mins. I must have tried near 20 mattresses at John lewis, narrowed it down to two I felt comfortable on and picked went back and forth between the two trying to falt one and settled on one. There's no point telling you what mattress I got because everyones body is different. You might find a mattress with foam/more or less springs/different fillings etc better or worse. You can't choose a mattress without trying it - simple as!

i agree dont shop online.

my budget for a single bed matress was £250, it has pocket springs and is on the soft side, 800 springs. I bought from a very large well know store in scotland, made for them under own name.
