We live in Bexley on the SE edge of London, and rabbit in the butchers' in this area is much dearer than thriftlady and many other folk pay, so much so that ours (a Q Guild butcher) tends to sell "half a rabbit" because a whole one is more than most people would pay. Last time I noticed any in there, the label said "1/2 large rabbit £8.99". My DD lives in the next town/bit of suburb and she asked her butcher why rabbit was so dear, and was told that it was because it was tame rabbit, because they weren't allowed to sell wild ones in case of myxamatosis(sp) .0
