Bailiff removing goods Monday HELP!

Please help. Since my brother died 2 years ago I have n't been able to cope with the bills in our house due to stress. My partner took over dealing with payments. Today he told me that we owe £1450 in council tax and that we were taken to court. The debt should have been paid by the middle of December. The Bailiffs came on Monday this week and served a Notice of Attachment saying that if half the debt was n't paid by Monday 18th when they return they would remove our car (which is worth more than this) failing that they can force entry and remove goods from our house! We need the car to get to work, I can't believe this has happened, although I should because I've had my head in the sand for 2 years unaware whats being paid and whats not. We don't have half the money to pay on Monday. We live in Scotland and this notice has been issued by the Sheriff Officer, my partner said he called the council and the Sheriffs office this week and they have said there is nothing else that can be done. I don't know whether to believe this or not (perhaps he has put his head in the sand like me?) I'm beginning to wonder if other bills haven't been paid. He is now saying he can't cope and wishes he was dead I am at my wits end can anyone help PLEASE?

I don't want to read and run but I'm not knowledgeable in this. Can you call a scottish version of national debtline or citizens advice? Herbie21 onhere runs a baliff advice website - I don't know if it covers scotland but you could find the details by searching for posts by Herbie21 perhaps?
If he, or you, are desperate the samaritans are always there to listen.
Please look after yourselves and good luck.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -

Ring National Debtline now ( 0808 808 4000 ), they know scottish law better than use.
But general rules apply, if the care is "NEEDED" not a "would be nice to have", then they cannot take it but you must tell them about it first.
A bailiff cannot force entry into the house, if you keep the doors and windows locked and do not let them in they can't do anything. However if they have already been in the house once, they can force entry to take goods if you failed to make payments. Taking goods is the last thing they want to do as goods have lower 2nd hand value at auction.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Huge hugs what a sad time you have had, you need to get help to sort your financial and emotional needs. Remember if you lose stuff from the house it is just stuff.Barclaycard 3800

Hi, Sorry your feeling stressed, If youe car is on HP or finance agreement that says the car can be siezed by the company who gave you finance the baliffs cannot take anything of the nature same with other goods if youve not paid for anything like the washer, fridge etc and its on an agreement they can't touch it.... hope this helps0
