Confused over credit file

Several of our debts have been sold to debt collectors after being defaulted by the original creditor. I am in the process of offering F&F settlements to clear all our debt.

What I cant understand is how do I get the original creditor to update my file. EG MBNA defaulted with a closing balance of £10K. 1st credit have this debt and they have an entry on my credit file for this debt. As the payment is going to them and hopefully they will mark this as satisfied how do I get the MBNA one off my file or noted that its paid and not actually outstanding anymore.

I hope this make sense.

Do both debts actually show as currently outstanding on your credit report? This is incorrect, only 1 debt (and 1 default) should appear.
