Accommodation in Arran

Anyone any suggestions as to where we could stay in Arran? Not to posh, just clean and friendly, and within walking distance to Brodick. We want to go over for a weekend in May.
thanks

We stayed at Strathwhillan House a few years ago, which is not far from the ferry.

Try the Tourist Information at the pier for a list of B. & B. places.
Also numerous small & bigger hotels. Or try camping, if its good weather it can be great.
Within walking distance of Brodick means Brodick as Lamlash is a hilly 3 miles away & Corrie a flat 5 miles.
Easter onwards is always busy so book asap.

  • Although a big hotel Auchrannie does some good weekend packages which also include ferry travel. We have stayed in one of the rooms in the spa resort which we were very happy with. Its just on the outskirts of Brodick so handy too.

I stayed here last September. It was very cheap and clean and comfortable. The couple who own it also do trips to Tarbert and Rothsay on a powerboat. We went out for the afternoon on the boat to Tarbert and it was fantastic fun.

If you are looking for somewhere really friendly with nice rooms and reasonable prices, can highly recommend the Invercloy in Brodick. Have stayed there a number of times with friends. Hilary and her sister are the owners and are soooo lovely!! Really welcoming and relaxing.

The Ormidale in Brodick, family run, home cooking, real ale, free entertainment, centrally located. :)

That's the one, great atmosphere even off season.

Very well run by owner, Tommy Gilmour :) , unlike the Brodick Bar, ,in the running for probably the WORST pub in Scotland.

Brodick Bar owner is a first class plonker so agree with you there Nosht - although he doesnt seem bothered by it from what I gather! The Ormidale has good atmosphere but not sure if it would be a bit noisy if staying over? (Ive never stayed there so cant comment but Ive been to the disco and it definately wasnt very quiet!! Good fun though.)
