My latest large metal sieve has broken, I must give them very heavy use.
I want a heavy duty one
A large one, like this http://www.marksandspencer.com/Marks-and-Spencer-Sieve/dp/B001GS1C8Y?ie=UTF8&qid=1263642362&categoryNodeID=&ref=sr_1_1&page=&node=42966030&sr=1-1&mnSBrand=core&rh=
But better quality, the last one I had was better than that & its bitten the dust.
Cheap ones rust in the dishwasher or the handles break off
John Lewis do one, but its doesn't look really heavy duty, but its on sale in Waitrose http://www.johnlewis.com/230700517/Product.aspx so handy
This one looks better, but John Lewis is a trot
http://www.johnlewis.com/230420983/Product.aspx
But the last one was a bit like that anyhow.
Who makes a REALLY great one?

What about John Lewis mail order probably a code somewhere . Do yoou use them for things like sieving fruit? - don't agree about Vinnie, liked him at first, but I think he is getting a wee bit nasty now. Mind Stephen would try the patience of a saint!!!0

Me too, I'm going off him;)
I use it for draining & cooking rice, but I use it for pasta too & I think I'm over using it:mad:0 -
I use a colander for my rice and pasta - strangely don't lose many grains, it has slits and not holes, so I think the rice doesn't fall through the same as they would have to line up exactly with the slits IYSWIM!
Thought if you use the sieve to make jus pushing the fruit through could be quite a strain - have you thought about a commercial one as I believe in restaurants etc. they sieve mashed potato so they would have to be robust!( personally I use a potato ricer, although it still isn't as good as my Grandma's!)
What about a conical sieve - expensive link and less expensive link0 -

I guess a commercial one would be great, but are the public allowed into places that supply trade, they probably want you to buy loads:eek:0 -
Much better sig!0

They are more like a colander than a sieve, but a fine colander.
Do you think it would work?
Would rice slip through it?0
