Car dealer and car finance issues

I wonder if anyone can guide me in the right direction with an issue i have?
On the 18th December 2009 i went to my local Ford dealer to see if they have a car in the Ford system that i wish to buy, and after a couple of hours of discussions, searching, and talking figures we eventually found a car i wanted and agreed to source it in from Glasgow to be delivered.
The finance was arranged through Black horse (not my first choice, but sadly i'm in no position to choose) and begrudgingly i now have admin fees on the first payment.
Now in the past the finance is agreed prior to the car being ordered, and then once the paperwork is signed on delivery the finance payments start?
But i have returned home from a couple of weeks away to find a statement waiting for me.
The first payment is expected to be payed on 20th Jan 2010. Today is the 15th Jan and i am still awaiting the car to be ready for collection, and after a call to confirm a date, i was told aprox' 22nd Jan, but they aren't sure.
I asked the Finance company to change payment dates as the 22nd is not helpful for me, and they agreed to put it off to the 1st Feb but have added £33 fees for loss of interest.
I'm pretty annoyed as the first payment is already pushing my limits a bit, and with these fees on top for a car i haven't signed for.... i'm staggered.
Do i have grounds to complain, and if so, who to?
Thanks in advance for any help or guidance.
Dave

I got my car from arnold clark, and the loan they got me from from ge money.
the loan didn't start till 6 weeks after getting my car0 -
oh wait i just read you haven't sign for . . . . . . . . .
well they can't do that
i was conned aswell, i wanted a black mini, but the 1 i picked they sold to someone else so was told if i tak the blue mini, they will include all these extras, which came to £800 it was like mot/ warranty etc, all arnold clark did was add it to my loan
I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THAT CAR PLACE AGAIN :@0 -
EXACTLY, i haven't signed for the car yet, and its been dragging on for almost a month now.
At this rate i'll be making payments before the car keys have been handed over. Not only that, the car i'm trading in still has finance running on it that i have already paid this month. The new finance was set on the agreement that the existing finance is cleared.
If it isn't sorted by Feb 1st i will have £180 first payment on new car to pay + £150 admin fee's + £33 loss of interest charges + £170 finance on old car.... I don't have that sort of money spare each month.0 -
seems like they have conned you:(
they conned me saying ignore the prices, its just to show the value and i was just to sign, so i signed like the sales guy said, now they claim they never said that i signed for it, so i lost £800
i hope they haven't fakes a signiture for you ? like i wouldn't think its possiable to start charging till you have signed.
I reported arnold clark to loads of places, that fight for you, and the only answer i got was i signed for it.0 -
I purchased a car from Arnold Shark in Stretford, or thought I had. Signed all the paperwork, paid deposit, sales rep phoned to say the finance had been approved, went to collect the vehicle to be informed that they were not prepaired to sell the car at the agreed price and informed me I could still purchase for another £480 on top of the agreed price. Threatened with legal action to the response of "so go on then" Is this legal?? In the meantime I had arranged & paid for new insurance and cancelled my old policy. Is this some con to get you in, purchase a vehicle and then charge you more? Arnold Clarke's big sale, big rip off more like. Beware of these cowboys.0

couldn't agree with you more, i wanted a black mini, they even said in front of my parents, cos they didn't have the black one the would include this this and this, stuff i don't even need, i said no, but it was my dad convinced me saying its a good deal.
now i landed myself a different colour car, and and extra £800 to pay.
i don't know how they get away with it theres even a complaints website

I've just been reading through the small print to try and find out if the payments should start a month AFTER i take delivery of the car, but i can't find any details, however i have just found out something else that is going to cost yet more money.
Bare with me on this one....
On 18-12-09 i agreed finance on a car, and the fee of £80 was applied to include the transfer of a cherished plate. The total cost was also to include paying off remainder of finance on current car (car was valued higher than outstanding finance). Aprox delivery date 13-1-10
22-12-09 It would seem (going off the letter i have received) that Black Horse paid the full amount to the dealer.
2-1-10 I give dealer my logbook to enable the plate transfer
3-1-10 Usual payment for current finance gets paid.
12-1-10 I contact dealer to hasten delivery. Told to expect car on aprox 20-1-10
Today (15-1-10) I return home to find statement from black horse wanting first payment on 22-1-10 even though i have not had the car yet. Car is registered with finance under original plate, not my cherished plate as agreed. Black horse want an extra £33 to change date to 1-2-10
I have looked through small print and found that Black horse also charge £30 admin fee to change number plate details over.
So thanks to the incompetence of EVANS HALSHAW of Wrexham i have paid for a car that should be already paid in full, and have over £60 extra to pay out due to them taking payment early, and not registering the car with the plate i have paid fees to have changed.
Is it worth contacting the FSA about this? Surely they shouldn't be taking payment for a car before the car is sold?0 -

No it isn't.
You can complain to Black Horse and if they don't give you a satisfactory response within eight weeks (allow another week on top for the post each way) you can then complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service.0
