Being chased by Go Debt - Advice please
Hey there, let me fill you in.
Around Apr 2003 I take out car finance with Direct Car Finance and lose my job January 2005 and phone them up. They advise I can hand back the car, as per the agreement after 2 years, a few months early.
Some company comes and picks it up and a few weeks later I get a bill for the finance difference which equates to around £4500. I call them up and say this is wrong because I got verbal confirmation that it was ok to hand back the car as it was quite close to the 2 year hand back policy.
Anyways after all the to ing and fro ing Direct Car go under and now Go Debt is chasing me for the balance. I have had numerous letters and calls etc and have just ignored them.
I'm just wondering what the 6 year rule is re this kinda debt. As far as I understand as long as there has been no admission from me re the debt being true and I havent made any paid then it is uncollectable. The debt remains but is just not enforceable. Is that correct?
It seems stupid that I may have to wait another year before I can legally say leave me alone considering nothing has happened up to now.
Is there anything I can do to get rid of them? Help!!!!!!!!!
