Chicken - use by date today

It's my DD 5th birthday on Monday and she has requested a chicken roast dinner for her birthday dinner. I rushed out today and bought a chicken at Mr T's and when I got home noticed that the sell by date was for today - it wasn't even reduced!
Have now thrown it in the freezer. If I take it out Sunday will it be alright to eat Monday?
Thanks

Absolutely. I often use chickens a couple of days after their sell-by date. I keep them in the fridge of course. I always give them a very thorough cooking and have never had a problem.0

i trust my own senses over use by dates
our fridge is near new and keeps great temps
so foods can often keep way past the dates on the packaging0
