Laurajayne's debt diary/SOA etc.

Hi y'all...

Well I've been lurking, and avoiding this for aaaages...but maybe its about time I get my act together, and post.

Admittedly I'm not in a huge amount of debt...but it somehow seems to be getting harder to shift

Well here goes:

Salary - £1,109

Bills -

HSA - £17 (I need this....you'll find out why later :p )
Mobile - £30
Housekeeping to Mum - £165
Power to Dad - £10 (I work from home)

Debts -

Buchanon Clark and Wells -not accepted offer as yet...they want £216, I say no! (£1,306)
Black Horse - £50 (937)
Capital One £10 (£522)
Dad - £100 (£1,305)
Dorothy Perkins - £75 AOE order (£365)
OH - £0 (£500)
Littlewoods - £100 (£300)
Moorcroft - £30 (£150)
Mum - £87 (£468)
Wescott - £30 (£47 - phew)
JD Williams - £20 (£189)

So....£764 paid put p/m so far. Apparent disposable income of £345. I can't do a full SOA, as I haven't finished writing down what else I spend money on....sorry :o

This is why I'm upset...

Today is pay day...fantastic...or not! I've been underpaid. It was my first month after P45 handed in, so first month not on emergency tax. I got charged £150 more tax than last month. So pay this month is £950. So now I'm down to £200, and my employer doesns't exactly seem to be in ahurry to help me out here. Wouldn't be so bad, but I'm still paying charges (knock on effect) from when CPW underpaid me in March (why is it always me eh?) So strike one.

Strike two...I have a £210 dentist bill coming up this month for a Root canal treatment. I can't go NHS, as I am currently complaining through the General Dental Council for my only local one - wouldn't trust her with a barge pole. So how exactly do I pay for that?

Strike three...more annoying than a problem as such. Wrote to the court to advise of my job change, they sent forms through for AOE order. Fine. Got a copy of the letter they sent my employer...with £850 quid to pay on it! They have 'lost' my previous payments from CPW:mad: ....Nearly had a heart attack when I opened the letter!

I'm sorry to moan guys...I mean, I'm by no means the worst off here...just finding it hard

    Hi Laura!

I'm very sorry to hear about your situation, everything seemingly wrong all at the same time!

I don't have any experience of the things you're having problems with so I can't advise I'm afraid but hopefully someone else will be along soon.

I hope you manage to get things sorted soon, we're always here to offer support and (((hugs))).

    Take care

    Kath x :D

    Hello love

    Well done for posting :)

Yes you have a lot of debts, but you are blurring the issue there somewhat, so Ill rephrase things for you for positivity.

Buchanon Clark and Wells -not accepted offer as yet...they want £216, I say no! (£1,306)
    Black Horse - £50 (937) ( again, quite small)
Capital One £10 (£522) ( this is also quite small really,)
    Dad - £100 (£1,305)
    Dorothy Perkins - £75 AOE order (£365)
    OH - £0 (£500) ( this isnt a current debt- well done!!)
Littlewoods - £100 (£300) ( only 3 more months of this then you will have spare)
Moorcroft - £30 (£150) ( this is small too- 5 months at this rte, or whne you have extra to clear this, no problem)
    Mum - £87 (£468)
Wescott - £30 (£47 - phew) ( ok, so next month, you will have only 17 to pay and then its cleared :j )
    JD Williams - £20 (£189)

I dont want to undermine what you are doing, or indeed the stress you are under, but look on the sunny side of this a little bit if you can.

    1. What have you got to sell? If you havent been doing so already, bang some thingas on ebay, amazon and wathc the money roll in. Ive made a few hundred since I started selling 300 would clear 2 of your debts in one fail swoop. Car boot sales, anything to bring the money in :D

    2. can you get a second job, bar work or a saturday job? This could be your "spends" then leave the salary for your debtors & for the accounts to settle down a bit.

    3. 30 on a mobile seems a bit excessive, if you are in contract, could you reduce this to the minimum tarrfiff, or to PAYG?
    4. Re your dental treatment. I had no money recently and had to have a wisdom tooth out ( pre LB moment) but went to my locla dental hospital for it. If you cant afford to pay it then dump the policy ( if youve overspent and they wont give you any more) and find out where your dental hospital is where they will do it for you for nothing. :D

All the best, chin up, you can do this!!!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • Hi laurajayne, just thought I'd post to say welcome and good luck with clearing your debts.
And also to just reiterate what Lynpower said re dental treatment, I'm a dental nurse working for the nhs and sometimes when we don't have time for unregistered patients we give them the phone number for the local access centre, which is a drop in centre for nhs dental treatment, our local one is fantastic and they usually give you a one off course of treatment provided on the nhs. Alternatively contact your current dentist and ask the receptionist if there's a payment plan she can set up, usually when patients phone our practice and are nice to the recptionist, we go out of our way to help them, especially with regards to finances. Have a chat with them, it's worth a try.

    Goodluck

    Thanks guys...

I know I'm not doing too badly....and I feel so bad wallowing in self pity when I see so many other people in far worse situations than me :o

I'm going to call the dentists on Monday, and explain my situation with underpayment of wages etc, and hopefully work out a plan. i do need this treatment done :D Basically had bad BAD toothache in April, went to emergency dentist..need root canal. Not so bad, but because of my previous dentist, I still haven't had one  The tooth cracked, and it's all a bit of a mess. I;m an ex dental nurse, and was a dental technician, so luckily for me, I spotted the problems. Unfortunatly I am also a major phobic (yup, work that one out  ) and this dentist is the first that I feel comfortable with, so although it's expensive, I really wanna stick with him.

My medical plan...hmmmm I best not cancel just yet! I've had my full dental, and most of my optical (I got some new glasses) and haven't yet paid a premium :rotfl: Or had my M&S vouchers... so I'll keep it til August ;)

I've sold most of my possessions lol, raised £100 quid a a car boot last bank holiday..:j

Unfortuantly I'm on Voda price plan...so can't drop for a good few months...shame really as I've really cut down on my useage now too lol.

Starting a spending diary though...really trying to trim down my spending...

On the upside, my mum said she'd noticed how different I am, on top of my finances, actually opening letters etc :D

It's bank bashing on Panorama tomorrow, so shall be watching that with interest, especially as I've just posted my, give me back my bank charges letter...thats nearly a grand...and I've got 5 other ccompanies (credit/store card) ones to deal with yet!

Well, off to go stare at the spreadsheet, and will it to £0 :rotfl:
