Breakdown cover and paying by installments?

I'm after breakdown cover and was shocked to see it is going to cost £108 to cover the car for home start, roadside and recovery. There is the option to pay by installments but before I waste any more time this morning getting frustrated (been calling home insurers this morning) does anyone as an undischarged bankrupt pay their breakdown cover in installments?
It's days like today that BR really has you bashing your head off the wall, so frustrating!

Hi Miche,
Yes we did. We also upped our premiums during BR to include 'Stay Mobile' (meaning you get a hire car in case of your car being out of action) and 'Breakdown Repair Cover' (meaning you get up to £500 to cover parts and labour). Hubby had the foresight to do this (I think it cost him an extra £10 ish per month) then we forgot all about it. The car broke down in month 11 of BR and was going to cost us £550 and take 5 days to repair (hence no car for this time!). When we were despairing, wondering where on earth we would get £550 and the cost of 5 days car hire to get to work, the AA man who picked hubby up said, 'Oh, most of this is covered! They gave us a hire car and paid £500 towards the repairs! We had to pay £25 excess and the other £25 to make it up to £550. What a rollercoaster of a day that was, but we were SOOOO pleased hubby had thought to up the premiums. We didn't really notice the £10 a month extra too much and as BRs we would have NO chance of getting that sort of money together and would have been snookered without a car to get to work!
Just my little story, but the answer is yes, we did pay in installments! :-)

Just found one for £99 Beth with all three, home, roadside and recovery. the only thing I can think of is knock off homestart - at least we'll be home but we'd be at home stranded with no way of getting car started.0

Sign up for Quidco and do it through them. The are offering £50.00 back on any AA cover over £100.00. The RAC is up to £40.00 back.0

We are looking for Breakdown cover and Asda seem to be the tops for what we need and can pay by instalments. £73.92 or £6.16 a month.
We got caught in Southampton once with a broken water pump and the company we were with would only take us 25 miles to a garage and ended up costing about £300 and someone to give us a lift back up there to collect the car when it was fixed whereas if we could have got it home brother in law would have fixed it-With Asda,if anything goes dramatically wrong we have the option from what I read of them bringing us all home with the car,or taking us to a garage to get the car fixed,so if we breakdown we would go for the option of getting us and the car all home.

Edited to say I am sorry I didnt realise it was a specific question regarding bankrupt issue-may still be worth giving them a ring. They sent my wife some forms to pay by standing order as we didnt want to do direct debit or pay with a card each month.0 -
We have Green Flag and pay by installments, no probs at all. We even added Eurpean cover to it while we were BR, again no probs, just added it to the DD amount.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

You could avoid paying by installments if you could manage to cover the cost of a repair for a couple of weeks by using Martin's recommended breakdown cover of Autoaid which is £37 a year (equates to £180 ish AA & RAC). You need to cover the costs as you pay and then reclaim them. If you feel this is a risk as a BR as you can't put it on a CC etc, then he recommends another service from the same people which is still significantly cheaper than big providers (I forgot the name of the other service, sorry). Look at the car tab, and see if you can save enough to make the premium affordable without installments?
