Make sure that you are on the electoral register.

Make sure that you put your land line phone number on any application forms you fill in. If you don't have a landline really consider getting one as they can work out a lot cheaper. Banks check to see if you have one I think as poorer people tend not to have them.

Without knowing more about what debts you have it is difficult to say more. There is information about this on Martin's main site. If you do a search on credit score you will find it.

Dont apply for any accounts if you have just moved home.

Close down any extra credit cards you no longer use as if you have too many this may stop you getting more credit.

    1. Satisfy / Settle any CCJ's / Defaults
    2. Keep all payments on time for at least 6/12 months
    3. Remove any incorrect / out of date data
    4. Keep within set credit limits
    5. Close any unused accounts
    6. keep any searches to a minimum

There are of course many other factors, and in real term "a score" is none existent, however stick to the above and lenders will look more favorably upon any applications for credit
 It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them
  • My problem is that I do pay my bills on time and I dont have ccjs, but I think where my problem lies is with my huge visa ammount....
Although I have paid back a lot of money to my visa, it's not made a bit of difference:confused:
Just need to keep going I think
