    I paid 49p for Kettles from Waitrose the sell by date was 19 February 2005 but for 49p who cares
  • hmmm kettle chipsss....

    something I've always wondered about is since they are crisps are they technically called "Kettle chip crisps" in the same way that walkers sell "Walkers Sensations Crisps"

    They are Kettle Chips as in the USA, where they originate from, crisps are known as chips.

    How often have you chipped something, a cup or plate for eg, and the chipped piece resembled what we call a chip (french fry)? Our chips should really be called potato sticks.

    Kettle chips are from the UK - 'Not that it's really worth thinking about, but the word 'Chips' probably distinguishes them from other brands in the uk, and I daresay makes the product more marketable in europe/usa, where the term chips is commonplace! And here endeth the lesson...

    I always associated the idea with chips of wood. Maybe I've got too much time on my hands, too! ;)

    Yes Andy, the Kettle chips we buy here are made in the UK but they originate in Oregon in the US hence chips.
