Cheap but durable wedding ring

Due to my other half's job I don't expect him to wear a wedding ring on a day-to-day basis....and I would also expect him to lose it pretty quickly outside of that as he isn't used to wearing any jewellery! So we don't want to spend much on his ring, but I don't want it to be horrible or wear out really quickly just in case he does end up wearing it...if that makes sense!
I know Platinum is good for durability (I think that is what firemen are recommended to get to cope with the heat/chemicals etc), but would be too expensive... Anyone got any suggestions of what would be hard wearing, but cheap (I'm not asking much!!)

i have heard tell that Palladium is all the rage and also Titanium. If you search on here for those words, you may well find something. My partner wants titanium but other have warned me off as it is hard to get off if there is an accident or something (i suppose it is TITANIUM lol) ?! But have a look for those anyway
Someone else will be along to provide more help in a minute i am sure lol! I am thinking palladium might be the way to go.... Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0 -
Hi yes palladium is about half the price of platinum and of similar durability, my OH was recommended to get palladium but we havent got one yet. Be careful though, they only started hallmarking it in January, so if you buy one made last year it may not be hallmarked. We got married 17th April 2010 !! A wonderful day with my wonderful husband !! :T0

my H2B wants a titanium ring.
if you have a look on amazon they have a fair few at great prices!0 -
My h2b has chosen a palladium ring. We got it from the jewllery quarter in birmingham. it was less than half the price of platinum. it isnt hallmarked as we bought it in december, once hallmarked the price is going to rocket. if you can get an unhallmarked palladium ring that a shop has left in stock you'll save a packet.
Who cares if it isnt hallmarked... its still the same metal! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
We got married in June and my dh is a roofer. He wanted a titanium ring so we got one very similar to this:

Yep, palladium here too. We both work in a hospital so needed something that wasn't going to be tarnished by alcohol gel!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

Builder-hubby has a ring from Ernest Jones made from tungston (same thing they make drill bits out of) which cost about £80. Very very hard wearing, not a scratch on it years later and is very 'manly' too.0
