circular knitting needles

Hi all

I am not a hugely experienced knitter but my young grand daughter and I would like to knit leg warmers and I thought circular needles might be a good idea. I bought one but it has turned out to be far too long (80 cms) and my cast on 50 stitches won't go anywhere near round. I see they can be bought on the internet as little as 30 cms.

What length would be best for leg warmers, both children's and adults. And will some more experienced knitters make suggestions about what else can be knitted on circular needles.

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

    Hi Filey
You could also try googling for magic loop method you tube tutorials - using one long circular as if it is short by looping it. Can't say I've got the hang of that yet (haven't yet tried) but I have managed knitting with 2 circulars which is an alternative when you need a narrow tube
Good luck. It sounds like a lovely project to do together.

    magic loop!

I learnt it and it makes knitting with the circulars really easy. It takes a few goes to get the hang of it but then you never need worry about the size of your circulars.

Just need to save some money for knitpicks now...
