Health Service Cuts

Did anyone listen to the Nolan Show this am and hear that the Health Dept here employs approx 50 or more Press Officers and approx 25 other Press Office admin staff? Did I hear this right? I know that the Dept is facing major cutbacks in funding for next year but surely those numbers can't be right...!?:eek:

    Why not? There are so many pen-pushers in the Health Service it is unbelieveable. Yorkshire, same size as N.Ireland, has one health authority so why do we need four? That is why we are struggling to afford front line staff in our hospitals.

    Ahhh they are a lot posher than Press Officers in the Western Trust;) We have a Director of Communications who is paid a stupid salary, he has 3 assistants who are paid a slightly less massively stupid salary and they have 3 or 4 secretarial support staff too;)

    Every one as useful as a chocolate teapot or an ashtray on a motorbike:rolleyes: except for the sec support who are the only one you can get a bit of sense out of, they are paid a pittance btw

    Just to put into context a Director of Communications is paid more than a ward sister or new style Matron and his 3 assistants are a band higher than any staff nurse is paid, don't ya just love the !!!!!!! helath service, when the cuts come, and they are coming big time they will cut frontline staff first to protect their own jobs yet again:o
