Ruthbridge!!!

Hi

I'm just after some advice if possible.

Ruthbridge are chasing me for payment for a debt from an old bank account I last used in 2005/2006 which I agree is owed by me. However I don't have the money to pay it off in full but am willing to pay in monthly installments. But they say they gave me the chance to do that a few years ago but I failed. Now I am in full time employment with a steady wage I can do it. They keep threatening me with bankruptcy etc which is the last thing I want but they won't listen when I say that I can't afford the full payment.

Does anyone know where I can go from here please?

No doubt I have a few more letters from them waiting for me at home.

Thanks in advance,

Amy :)

What sort of amount is the debt? This will have a big influence on whether they will take any legal action against you.

Have you shown them a monthly budget that shows that the monthly amount you are offering is all you can afford?

Do you have other unsecured debts?

  • It's originally for £3703.21 but they put it down to £1851.61 if I could pay it in full by 13th January. Obviously I couldn't.. but I did e-mail them my incomings and outgoings per month offering (yet again!) to pay £70 (all I can afford) a month. I have not had a reply back, but I probably have a letter waiting for me when I get home.
  • O and I do have another debt for a car I bought on finance, and am paying £100 a month towards that.
