can you make complaint about debt collecting agencys? (any advice please)1

I just been on the phone to a company called allied internationa ltd on behalf of my hubby to let them know cccs would be in contact. The chap was very rude and said due to the data protection act he could not discuss anything and as i pointed out i was not discusing anything expect letting them know cccs was dealing with it a letter had been sent and they will be in contact soon , he would have none of it and just saying i got to speak to your husband you dont relise how serious this is. I answered him with yes we do hence cccs are involved. and he then put the phone down on me..

All the other companys we are dealing with have all said thank you for letting them know and put it on the file...

is there anyway i can send a letter of complaint to?

i spoke to cccs after who said best not ring them again and comunticate by letter if need be so they cant bully us into payments...

any advice please..

    Hi there!

I'm not sure about who you could make a complaint to but it certainly sounds like you need to, they shouldn't get away with being rude.

The advice to only deal by letter sounds sensible, you can take your time and not feel pressured then.

I'm sure there's someone here who can tell you about making a complaint.

    Best of luck x

I'm new in this country but I'd still guess there's no law against being rude. And, he works for a collection agency, not Marks & Spencer, so I doubt his employer would care if you complained to them.

Just let it roll off your back and deal with them in writing in the future.

Years ago, I had a guy rattle me badly enough to Western Union him the money on the spot, even though I don't think I was in the wrong. He did it by being rude and yelling and threatening and all the standard tactics. They do this stuff because it works.

Don't talk to them on the phone - that's why he wanted to talk to your husband, because they can manipulate you better that way.

    Good for you!

You don't have to put up with intimidation and bullying. No, there's no law against it as such  but I'm sure very knowledgeable people on here have spoken of a code of conduct governing such companies. You really can make a complaint and if they get too many they can be stopped from doing their business. Perhaps someone will give more info than me, or I'm sure you can find it somewhere. Not needed now perhaps but if they phone you again you will have knowledge on your side.

    Good luck :D

I have been dealing with Allied International for a few years now and for the first 12 months or so they were VERY VERY rude and constantly kept on calling me sometime 5 or 6 times a day. Now they are completely the oposite! I can't get any information out of them at all.. I wrote to them recently and asked for a balance for a final settlement and they totally ignored my recorded delivery letter.. they also did NOT hassl me when I called them! I was all prepared for a fight when I rang them about can I pay more or I need to pay it all back.. but I asked my question and I got my answer.. end or story! I about fell off my chair!!!!!! Anyway.. they are still lowlife and will be as rude as any other lowlife like Wescot! IMHO ..My advice, ignore the phone calls and write to them recorded delivery only, just the same as every other lowlife debt collector who tries to bully already scared people.
If you don't want to know my opinion, don't ask for it!
