Advice Needed - 1st credit

Hi, this is the first time I've posted..hopefully in the right place!
I have an old debt handled by 1st Credit for my Barclaycard, the balance is now down to £800 ish from almost £3k.
I'm currently 7 months pregnant with our first child and owing to some complications with the pregnancy, I have been off work sick since last October. I called 1st Credit today to ask them to reduce my monthly payment from £80 to £25 for 6 months, just to assist while I'm on reduced pay/statutory maternity benefit. In order to do this, they need a financial statement from me (fair enough) but have also asked to see a copy of my partners pay slip. I'm not married to him although I live with my partner and I incurred the debt years before I even met him, so there is no several liability there that I'm aware of. Are they within their rights to request my partners payslip?
What annoyed me is (and ok, could be hormones lol) that I called my other Creditor first to ask the same thing about reducing my payment temporarily, and they did it without any hesitation - and I do not need to produce any documents either. The balance of this debt is £4k...Grrrr!

No. Your partner's income is none of their business whatsoever.
Clearly they want to put pressure on you to make you think that you should be taking your partners income into account now yours has reduced.
It is your debt, so they shouldn't be expecting you partner to effectively contribute to it. End of.....
Typical for 1st Credit though. :rolleyes:Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

NO! They are just 'Information Fishing'. The **** on the phone will have Daily Targets for things like Employers Name, Confirmation of Home Ownership, Partners Details etc, etc.
Your debt is YOURS and the only information they are entitled to is about you and even then just the basics.
If he rang THEM about your Account they wouldn't be able to discuss it as they would b breaking Data Protection Laws.........its the same thing.
They know this.
Must calm down! The sheer mention of this lot set my blood boiling:D
:D stay wonky
