Hi- we are going to view a possible venue on Sunday.
Does anyone have any suggestions for good questions to ask and any tips on haggling/getting extras included.
We are looking at a hotel to have an afternoon civil ceremony in and a buffet evening reception afterwards (with the possibility of canapes in between ceremony and full evening buffet)
Thanks for any suggestions

Hi!
Im pretty new at this so im sure someone with much better info will be along shortly!!
What i found when i went was that all my venues said they couldnt knock any money off the food as its was a set price..., but i did find i could get the room hire charge for the civil ceremony off if i asked. So that saved me £300 on my actual venue.
Questions i asked were.
How many does it hold?
What time are we allowed to continue on to?
Can we hire our own D.J?
Drinks prices (My OH hates a place that tried to super overcharge on drinks!)
Do you have any pictures of the civil ceremony room set up and evening room set up from previous weddings?
Do the bride and groom get free overnight stay?
Most venues allow you to only cater for 75-80% of the guest for the evening buffet so you dont have to pay for 100% unless you want to, worth finding out what that number is.
Once i got the price for everything i then asked what discount was avaliable and what the final price was. Thats how i got my £300 off, i could have probably got more if i'd have pushed harder.

There was another thread about haggling the other day that might help - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2192733
