Interesting phonecall from Welcome Finance!
Yesterday afternoon I received a phonecall from Welcome finance. We have our car finance through them, because they were believe it or not, the cheapest deal at the time, which even main dealers couldn't compete with. Anyway, we have around 18 months left of a 4 year agreement, so we are looking forward to paying it off next Autumn....!
Anyway, the guy from Welcome started by telling me that he could offer me a really good deal if we were to pay it off early, up to £1000 off the finance! I told him that I wasn't interested because the car's value had dropped over the past two years, significantly, and that if I were going to pay it off sooner, I would expect to get a darn site more than £1000 off. He then told me to "name my price"!! :eek: I couldn't believe what I was hearing, I have settled previous finance agreements and got some good deals in the past, but I have never been asked to name my price.
I told him that we weren't in a position to be able to do that at the moment, at which point he asked if I would like to increase the payments to pay it off sooner. Well, we already pay more than we should, so that shocked me a little, so I asked him if the rumours about the Cattles group were true and if this were an attempt at recovering monies before they go into administration?? He very quickly replied, "We were just trying to offer you a deal, we are not going into administration." and ended the call.
Makes me wonder though!

wouldn't surprise me. I have been offered 3grand off the full loan price of mine if I can pay it all within the next month. I can't offered it unfortunately or I could be done with them but will be interesting to see what happens!0
