bt's latest joke

another quarterly bill, another python sketch from bt

my quarterly charges are usually about £39, my direct debit is a total of £49.50, so i thought, bt owe me money, i dont WANT to use my landline, they owe me a decent bit cos every quarter is like this or even less (£12.79 line rental and i use the free calls for my minimum number a month), i wanted to make it £15 a month to make my sums a bit easier (and to stop them running off with money when i end my 18 month term

operator 1- no cant do it
me- why not? i have never run up a bill as high as the direct debit amount ever
op 1- *jabbers away about advance billing and this means i owe them money*
me- but the direct debit that i want to change it to, at £15 a month would more than cover that and leave me approx £10-15 in credit on my next bill
op1- *jabbers away on her pigeon english script*
me- yes you explained that, as i have said i dont use even £15 a month, i have an increasing amount of credit that i want to use to reduce my direct debit
op 1- *jabbers away saying exactly the same thing*
me- can i please speak to someone in the uk please
op1- you will have to disconnect the call

op2- certainly sir i will send you written confirmation

literally 2 minutes

facepalm

the sooner a cheaper landline provider that allows other isp's than their own is launched the better
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)

Phone them up (or better still email them) and change onto monthly whole bill paid by direct debit.

That way you will pay exactly what you owe each month and no more.

I've just been on the phone to BT to do exactly that myself, change to monthly pay dd, But they want half the quarters money up front first!
    Kind of defeats the object!!
