It is almost certainly up to your headteacher and Chair of Governors. previous amounts of absence may be taken into account and if you are granted leave, it may be unpaid. You will get excellent and accurate advice on the Pay and Conditions forum of www.tes.co.uk
Otherwise check the burgundy book, but I think I am correct in saying it is up to HT and CoG.0 -
There may be a local agreement with the LEA and the NUT if you are with them.

As kingfisherblue says it will all depend on your Headteacher, and he/she will have to discuss it with their Seniors first.
As a general rule, no, teachers aren't allowed to have time off during term time. BUT of course this is discretionary and depends on the reason... such as you're very unlikely to be given time off for just a holiday.
But there will be the occasional exception which is more likely to be given to a teacher who has been loyal to the school (worked there a long time) and has an excellent sick record.
All you can do is ask and see what they say. When I was at Junior School our teacher was given a week off mid term to do a charity run in the Far East (unrelated to the School). She had been there for donkeys years and is now the Head.0
