Do underwriters ever increase a mortgage offer?

A bank have offered me a mortgage that is a little under what I need so they have sent my payslips, bank statements, id, etc to their underwriters to see if they will give me the extra £6000 I need to seal the deal. The bank have credit checked me which they said was very good as I have never been in debt, always payed bills on time, have no dependants and do not spend a lot in fact I have been saving over £1000 a month in bonds for the past 6 months and have very little outgoings. Does anyone have any experience of underwriters ever lend more on a mortgage if they have a good credit history,no debts, overheads, dependants, etc?

If they have asked all for your documents they will be in a position to consider this....it is not unknown as long as you meet what they're looking for...

it is the royal bank of scotland, she sounded confident but surely if it was possible it would have been offered upfront.

RBS can be pretty good so good luck, I hope it works out for you.

Reposessions can be a bit tricky...my best advice would be to keep the pressure on for a speedy completion as people will still get shown around and if the lender in posession receives a better offer they have to go with it.

Only my opinion as an ""adviser!" (based on a fair bit of experience of this sort of thing!!lol)

a1pacino ...put your efforts into trying to seal your deal..the fsa (if they call you back) will only pay you lip service.....they have much bigger fish to fry..
