I know about the risks and everything but this is what i want to do, I have extremely pale skin and i'm going on the sunbeds every other day and building up the minutes but i need to know a good lotion that can help my skin eventually get a dark tan (preferably in 5 months) I've had fake tans in the past but im not looking for that as im going on holiday in 5 months for 2 weeks and it would just wear off in the pool and they only last maximum 5 days. Need an answer ASAP as i'm going on tommorow thanks in advance x

Extremely pale skin isn't going to get a dark tan, fact.
If you're determined to go on a bed, I'd use Australian Gold, and for as little time as possible.
Also, is the whole point of going on holiday not to get a bit of colour? Sunbed tans never look natural imho.
Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.0 -

You are doing more damage on 5 months of sunbeds than just being careful with sunscreen on holiday! Tan's are out of fashion anyway - and you obviously have NO IDEA of the unbelievably serious risks of them.0

Won't comment on the sunbed use but would like to suggest a product you can use with or without a base colour, its from Marks and Spencer but I'm not sure if its out yet, you'll find it in the tanning section and its a cream that you apply for 2 weeks everyday before you go on holiday it encourages the melanin (this gives you a colour when it rises to just below the surface of your skin to protect it from the suns rays) production in your skin and you will get a safer, longer lasting and as dark as you can go tan for your colouring in a much quicker time, I know this works because I used it myself some time ago when I went to Spain and had a better colour than my friend who had already been out there a week after only four days and I was using P20 sunscreen, enjoy your holiday:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Not everyone suits the pale and interesting look, most people I know would rather look how they feel is thier best rather than follow what fashion dictates:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -

Increasing your vitamin D intake and eating lots of tinned tomatoes is probably the best you can do. I haven't burned for a few years now, and although I am extremely careful about too much sun exposure I do think those two things have helped. I used to burn my hands if I pushed the buggy home in bright sunshine, for example, only a 20 minute walk.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
If you are very pale skinned like me you will probably never acheive a dark tan. I managed to live in Sri Lanka for over 2 years and never got even close to a decent tan.
I am now considered very high risk for malignant melanoma and generally have one or two suspect lesions removed every year. So far all have been fine but the chances are that sooner or later my luck will run out. All I can do is be vigilant.
Please reconsider using the sunbed and use sunscreen on holiday to protect your skin.0 -
There's a pill you can take to increase the depth of your tan. Can't remember what it's called but I believe it's available at Boots.Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0

This may be of interest to you.
Also, picking one sentence out of the linked document: "Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines state that no one should have more than 20 sunbed sessions a year or they increase the risks they are exposing themselves to"
But hey, if you wish to expose yourself to the risk of self-inflicted skin cancer and its potential complications, then go ahead.0
