Hello guys going through IVA process at the moment and was needing advice on if and how I would keep a debit card.
I am self employed and need this facility tp purchase things for work, I am no expert but soon I will default on all of my cards and loans etc would this automaticly lead to banks requesting debit and credit cards due to poor credit rating.
I Have a bank account that is clear and not related to any of the companies related to my IVA would they still offer this facility?
many thanks

Hi !
I am nearly a year into my IVA and have had a Lloyds bank debit card since the start. I followed the advice given by the CCCS and opened a new account with a bank unconnected with my debts.
I told them why I was changing accounts and they still gave me one. I dont see why you shouldn't have one as you can only spend whats in your account. As part of an IVA you can't go overdrawn or have an overdraft.
I hope this is of some help!;)Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Some basic bank accounts offer debit cards and you will still need a bank account with your IVA, Debit cards are NOT credit as you can only spend what you have, so if when you open your new account you get one with a debit card that's fine. All comments and advice given is my own opinion and does not represent the views or advice of any debt advice organisation.
