Abbey Buy To Let

Hi,
I am 6 months into my mortgage with Abbey and I wanted to move my mortgage from a residential to a buy to let as I wan't to move back home (family problems), I don't expect to move back in.
I was wondering if a credit check will be done to change the product over? Will abbey be happy to oblige? Does anyone know if abbey have any conditions?
Would call them but stuck at work.
Thanks.

I think you should wait until you're "unstuck" at work and speak to Abbey..this is a problem for them to resolve and not something that can be discussed on a general forum, as you will only rcv opinion...This sounds like you're encountering problems and should really be discussed with your lender asap....Don't be afraid, in this climate they are receiving calls such as yours everyday..0

You need to be asking them if they will grant you permission to let the property as opposed to switching to a btl deal. They are within their rights to say no and they wil probably charge you a fee of some sort but it's best to be straight with them.
People will come on here and suggest you don't tell Abbey but just let the place out but this could cause you all sorts of issues.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0 -
As long as you've had the mortgage more than 6 months they'll be able to consider consent to let. You'll stay on the same deal but will have to pay an admin fee. You just need to give the mortgage centre a call and they'll sort it out for you.0
